I’ve always, no matter what I’ve done, been the type that the outcome of my experience and skills will speak for itself. I’ve never felt the need to have to over compensate for lack of this that or the other thing. I also feel what I do is a reflection of myself. I’ve never been the one to want to be in the spotlight I want my work to be.

Sometimes I get asked if I ever hit a wall or if I ever get artist block? Simple answer is no. I have a 6 plus month commission list that deposits have been made. I’m obligated to keep the gears turning within this machine. Because of that I can’t afford to have what most would call artist block. But I’m not sure it’s really a thing?
This stigma with having a business of your own has long time been the fallacy that you can make your own hours, you can take as much time off as you want, that your inherently well off. While some
of it’s true, most of us realize the reality that are in the thick of it. Here’s the deal your success is directly related to how much time and effort you put into this. Repeat that for me. You can do whatever you want but understand there’s consequences good and bad depending on what you decide. Often times when you’ve created this thing that’s taken a life if it’s own you’ll find many of those that will comment “you should” and it’ll be followed by, “do this, that or the other thing”. Now I’m not saying you shouldn’t listen but I am saying take it with a grain of salt. When this thing grows and you start following those that have inspired you most times it’s for a reason. And it’s that reason that’s made you listen because they’ve grown their thing too! It hasn’t been much but I know the few that have reached out to me and I’ve really listened because it was so valuable! Man today was that day. I don’t mean quitting but I mean a mental break. You can work out, do yoga or whatever stress relievers you can but eventually things are going to pile up on you. Today was that day for me. Aside the fact that it’s been getting nice out, I have just felt cooped up and the daily 4 mile walk with the dog wasn’t going to cut it. When you set out to do your own thing the learning curve is massive. Depending on the variables of your endeavor there can be a lot to keep track of and manage. In the beginning no matter what we offer our pricing inherently will be set low. That’s just how it is. No matter if you’re self employed or have a small scale business it’s a learning process from beginning to end.
To answer that I feel we need to be honest and break down a few things into categories to even begin with. In reality there are those that do art, for a living I might add. There are those that want to do art, that have ideas but not the means or skill set. And finally those that do art as a hobby.
Welcome to my blog page! While mostly of what you see is on my media there is very little of me personally. Like anyone else I do have opinions, ideas, and a life outside of Bitchin Inc. Here I hope to give an inside look into just that. Just a little bit though as I will try my very best to drag myself away from creating to post on here. I hope to invite discussion, ideas and a few other elements that we all can participate in and enjoy. |
